As we compared these two SUVs to each other, we noticed some notable differences. If power is what you are searching for, then the RAV4 is a great option. Its strong engine runs at 203 horsepower compared to the Tiguan’s 184 horsepower. Perhaps you need an SUV that doesn’t need to fill up on gas so much, which the RAV4 also comes ahead on. The Toyota RAV4’s fuel economy is 26 city mpg and 35 highway mpg. That’s a very big difference compared to the Volkswagen Tiguan’s 22 city mpg and 29 highway mpg. If you are planning on hauling a trailer behind at some point, either SUV would do that job as both can carry 1,500 pounds behind it. However, the VW Tiguan fights back by offering a seating capacity of 7 people versus the 5 that the RAV4 can seat. If that doesn’t bother you, then the 2019 Toyota RAV4 would be a fantastic choice.
