The word “Prime” simply means the best. And nothing lives up to that description quite like the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, which we have right here at Royal South Toyota in Bloomington, IN. That’s because this version of the Prius is more than just an impressively fuel efficient sedan. It’s the total package. Thanks to its fully revamped and optimized Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain system, which combines a 1.8-liter Atikinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission, the new Toyota Prius Prime gives its drivers the power they need, and the savings at the pump they want.
In fact, there’s a good chance you’ll never have to go to the gas station again. That may seem like an over-exaggeration, but since you can now plug your 2017 Prius Prime into your home outlet, and considering it gets 133 MPGe in EV Mode and 55 miles per gallon in the city and 53 miles per gallon on the highway in Hybrid Mode, it really is a possibility.
|Updated Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive Powertrain||Navigation System||Lane Departure Alert w/Steering Assist|
|133 MPGe in EV Mode||Full Color Heads-Up Display||Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control|
|55 City MPG in Hybrid Mode||Home-Charging Capability||Blind Spot Monitoring System|
|53 Highway MPG in Hybrid Mode||Automatic High Beams||Rear Cross Traffic Alert|
The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime offers you the choice of two impressive new drive modes. The first is EV Auto Mode, which automatically relies more on your new Toyota Prius Prime’s electric capabilities. This mode is especially helpful during shorter trips in urban and suburban settings. But fear not, in situations where it would be more efficient to use the gasoline engine, such as on steep hills, the gasoline engine automatically engages. The other mode is Hybrid mode, which primarily uses the gasoline engine while drawing support from the electric motor when it is efficient to do so.
The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime also features the available Predictive Efficient Drive system complete with Predictive Deceleration Support. This system gathers data from your daily driving habits to predict points of deceleration and stopping to use to alert you when you can increase efficiency by letting off the accelerator.
