Model Highlights

At the heart of the Volt are two electric motors that power the front wheels. They combine to make 149 horsepower, sending power to the wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In addition, the Volt also has a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine making 101 horsepower. This engine is mainly used to charge the batteries, but if need be, power can be sent directly to the front wheels as well. Unlike the previous generation Volt, the gasoline engine in the current iteration does not require premium fuel. Despite the Volt's strong fuel economy, the car still turn in a respectable run to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds. The Volt comes in two trim levels -- LT and Premier -- with both trims having just a whiff of luxury-car feel to them. The base LT trim comes with automatic climate control, power windows, an 8-inch color touchscreen, OnStar with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot technology, SiriusXM satellite radio, 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, taillights and daytime running lights and remote keyless entry. The Volt also features a clever smartphone projection system that uses the 8-inch screen in the dashboard to navigate various phone functions. Voice commands are also integrated into the system. The Premier trim adds leather seating to the mix but also comes with a Bose premium sound system, heated and powered folding outside mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, a parking assistance program and unique 17-inch wheels. Two packages are also available on the Premium trim -- the Driver Confidence Package and the Driver Confidence II Package. The Driver Confidence Package looks out behind the Volt, with a rear cross traffic alert system and a blind spot warning and lane change warning system. The Driver Confidence II Package adds to the Driver Confidence package with a forward collision alert system, a lane keep assist system, low speed automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and intelligent headlights. All versions of the Volt come with traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera and OnStar's various suite of diagnostic and assistance programs.
